Why it mattered
5G networks were only starting to be built, and the first implementations of the technology were appearing. Mobile operators, first of all in Germany, had to validate that what they were deploying actually behaves as the standard says. The vendor’s flagship product is a framework for testing mobile networks, licensed to operators together with services around it, so it had to support 5G early.
Simulated 5G network components were developed by a third company. My part was integrating them into the framework.
How it works
- Integration architecture, designed together with colleagues: communication and management interfaces between the simulator and the framework, a configuration concept and the user interface for test engineers.
- A test environment and a regression testing framework for the integration, developed and put into use.
- Implementation of parts of the designed software.
